ECHL: Rapid City Rush Transactions | 03/22/2025

The Rapid City Rush made several roster adjustments this past week ahead of their series against the Wichita Thunder, which began last night. These moves included the signing of a new goaltender, call-ups to the AHL, and multiple changes involving players on reserve. With the team in the midst of a crucial three-game home stand, these roster shifts could play a significant role in the Rush’s performance throughout the weekend.

Rush Signed Goaltender Nathan Torchia from University of Windsor

The Rapid City Rush announced that they signed 5’10” goaltender Nathan Torchia from the University of Windsor of USports in Canada. The Baden, Ontario native spent four seasons at Windsor where he played in 78 games and had a record of 45-27-4 with two shutouts. In his final season at Windsor, Torchia had 627 saves and 65 goals against on 692 shots for a goals against average of 2.91 and a save percentage of .906. In seven games played in his freshman season, Torchia had a record of 4-2-0 with one shutout along with a goals against average of 2.09 and a .933 save percentage.

Connor Murphy and Charles Martin Called Up to Calgary Wranglers

The Rush also announced that goaltender Connor Murphy and defenseman Charles Martin have been called up to the Calgary Wranglers in the AHL. This season with the Rush, Murphy has played in 23 games where he has a record of 11-7-4 with two shutouts. On 768 shots, Murphy has 702 saves and has allowed 66 goals for a save percentage of .914 and a 2.98 goals against average. Martin has played in 40 games with the Rush where he has three goals and 18 assists for 21 points with 40 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -15.

Borshyov Placed on Reserve; Hyman and Skelly Activated

On top of gaining and losing players, the Rush placed defenseman Artyom Borshyov on reserve, activated defenseman Aaron Hyman from 3-day injured reserve, and activated defenseman Dalton Skelly from reserve. Borshyov joined the Rush at the end of February after completing his collegiate career at Lindenwood University. Since joining the Rush, Borshyov has played in five games where he has yet to register a point. He has two penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +1.

Hyman joined the team at the beginning of the season after finishing his time at Toronto Metro University of USports in Canada. With the Rush this season, Hyman has played in 38 games where he has one assist with nine penalty minutes and a -16. Dalton Skelly was called up from the Knoxville Ice Bears (SPHL) and signed by the Rush mid-February. Since signing with the Rush, Skelly has played in 11 games where he has one assist with four penalty minutes and a -3.

Rush Continue Three-Game Series Against Wichita Thunder

The Rush will resume hosting the Wichita Thunder in a three-game series that started last night, Friday, March 21. The series continues with Rush Fights Cancer Night on Saturday, March 22, with puck drop set for 7:05 p.m. MT, and concludes with Sensory Friendly Night on Sunday, March 23, starting at 4:05 p.m. MT.
