The Reading Royals have signed Chase Brand out of the NCAA. Brand comes from Nevis, Minnesota spending much of his hockey career with St. Cloud University. With Brand coming to Reading, he brings with him the experience of playing four seasons with the university starting in the 2019-20 season. In his time with St. Cloud University, Brand had 117 game appearances, scoring a total of 14 goals and gathering 20 assists.

Last season, Brand had a bit of a change of scenery, appearing in 30 games with Augustana University. In his time there, Brand scored five goals and seven assists. With the university relatively new to the hockey world, Brand got to take his experience from his previous team and bring it forth to shape the new world of hockey for Augustana.

Brand brings to the Royals a total of 147 games of experience to a team that could use a strong center this late in the season. The Royals currently sit in a three-way tie for fifth, with Trois-Rivières in sixth and Worcester in fifth. All three teams currently have 57 points and 25 wins. The differences between the three lie in their games played, with Royals at the most in the North at 61, Trois-Rivières at 58, and Worcester at 59, and also their percentages. The Royals have a 0.467, the Lions have a 0.491, and the Railers have a 0.483. With Brand now signed, fans can hope to see more in the scoring department as the season is slowly coming to an end.
