The Trois-Rivieres Lions (40-12-4-2) have become the second team in the Eastern Conference and the first team in the North Division to clinch their spot in the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoff with a 5-3 win over the Reading Royals on Friday Night. This will be the second straight Kelly Cup Playoff appearance for the Lions and their third overall as a franchise. However, Trois-Rivieres has failed to get out of the first round in their first two Kelly Cup Playoff appearances.

It’s been a great year for the Lions, and a few notable factors have led them to a Kelly Cup Playoff Birth, one of which has been their play at home. In 29 games this season at Videotron Coliseum, the Lions are 20-4-3-2 and are one of just five teams in the league with at least 20 wins at home. Luke Cavallin is currently a nominee for Goalie of the Year as he’s 17-7-0 with a 1.87 GAA, .937SV%, and three shutouts. He currently leads the league in GAA and SV%. Special teams have also been key as Trois-Rivieres is in the top five on the PP and the PK this season. On the offensive side, the Lions have two goal-scorers with 20+ goals in Anthony Beauregard and Jakov Novak, who have been key pieces on their team. Captain Morgan Adams-Moisan is having a career year in his first year with Trois-Rivieres, putting up 19 goals and 15 assists for 34 points in 54 games, and isn’t afraid to throw the body around.
