New York Rangers Prospects In The World Junior Tournament

Brennan Othmann

Othmann is looking to win back-to-back gold medals at the world junior tournament. The 2021 16th overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft is representing a star-studded Canadian team, as he is playing on the top line with Shane Wright (SEA) and the projected 1st overall pick in the upcoming draft, Connor Bedard. The Pickering, ONT native, has 35 points in 26 games played this season in the OHL as he split time between the Flint Firebirds and the Peterborough Petes. Othmann has one assist in three games played during the 2023 world junior tournament so far. He will look to add to his stats when Canada plays Sweden.

Adam Sykora

Sykora is playing in his second world junior tournament, representing his home country of Slovakia. The 5’10, 172lb left winger has nine points in 20 games played this season for Nitra MHC in the Slovak league. So far in the tournament, Sykora has one goal in four games.

Kalle Vaisanen

Vaisanen was selected in the 4th round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. He has three goals in 27 games this season for TPS Turku in the SM-Liiga league. This is his second time representing Finland in the world junior tournament. Kalle has one goal and one assist thus far in this tournament.

Jaroslav Chmelar

Chmelar is playing in his second world junior tournament, representing his home country of the Czech Republic. The Czechia native has six goals and four assists in 18 games this season as a freshman at Providence College in the H-East league. The high-powered Czechia team looks to be one of the favorites to win gold so far in the tournament. Jaroslav has three goals and two assists in four games played so far in the tournament.
