The Panthers fell behind 3-1 after one period in Game 1 and battled back to tie the game before the Maple Leafs closed it out for a 5-4 win. Florida’s Sam Bennett avoided disciplinary action by the NHL for his elbow to the head of Toronto’s goaltender, Anthony Stolarz. The Panthers outhit Toronto 51-24 in Game 1.

The Maple Leafs won Game 1 in a second round series for the first time since 2001. Toronto got the eventual game-winning goal from Matthew Knies. The Leafs won 36 of 60 face-offs in Game 1.
