Toronto, ON – The Toronto Maple Leafs are facing off against the surging St. Louis Blues tonight, hoping to get back into the win column. Morgan Rielly is poised to serve the first game of his inevitable suspension while the Leafs look to push through his absence up the standings to firm their spot in the postseason.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

Last Meeting:

The Leafs and Blues haven’t faced each other since last season, but the game was an exciting one that ultimately ended as a 6-5 shootout win for the Blues. The Blues have been finding their game as of late and have propped themselves up into a wild card spot in the West, and will look to take another game off of the Leafs. Tonight should be an exciting matchup as both teams are fighting to rise in the standings.

Leafs to Keep an Eye on:

  • Ilya Samsonov is back in the starter’s net after Jones started on Saturday. Samsonov has been much closer to his play of last year and has helped the Leafs earn some wins since joining the Leafs again. A solid start tonight, and it’d be safe to say that “Sammy Smiles” has officially won the starter’s job back from Jones, at least until Woll is back.
  • Mark Giordano was out of the lineup last game with a minor injury and will draw back into the lineup tonight. Giordano has had a few more struggles this season, but the 40-year-old will look to continue to play a solid game, blocking shots in his return to the Leafs lineup.
  • David Kampf has also been out of the Leafs lineup with an injury and finds himself back in tonight. Kampf’s last game with the Leafs was January 27th, so he will look to catch up to speed quickly. The defensive center has not been as solid this season with the Leafs, but will look to find his game further as the season gets into this critical push for the playoffs.
