DULUTH, Ga. – Wednesday started the final countdown for the Atlanta Gladiators as they welcomed the Orlando Solar Bears to Gas South Arena for the first of two match-ups between the teams. Atlanta came out fighting to snap their losing streak with a strong performance in front of the home crowd, while Orlando was just looking to get another two points. Orlando struck first in the second period with back-to-back goals but Atlanta cut that lead in half with a goal soon after. The score remained the same until the Gladiators pulled their goalie in the final minutes of regulation and gave them the extra attacker needed to get the puck in the net and force overtime. Unfortunately for the Gladiators, a hooking penalty gave the advantage to the Solar Bears, who capitalized on the 4-on-3 to score the winning goal and take the game by a final score of 3-2.
