ESTERO, Fla. – The results from Saturday night’s game between the Florida Everblades and the Orlando Solar Bears were markedly different from the night before, as the Solar Bears scored early and often to win the game 5-1.

Solar Bears Goaltender, Brandon Halverson, had a much better game Saturday after being chased early in the second period the night before stopping 23 of 24 shots for a 0.958 save percentage.  Alex Frye opened the scoring in the first period for the Solar Bears followed by teammates Jayden Dureau; Mithcell Hoelscher; and Alexandre Fortin, who scored twice. Andrew Fyten scored the Everblades’ only goal late in the second period.

All three Stars of the Game were from the Solar Bears with Mitchell Hoelscher receiving first star for his one goal and three assist performance.

I write for and photograph the Florida Everblades for ITR. I am a retiree that has turned my hobby of photography into a business. I currently live in Sarasota, Florida with my wife, Christy, but I'm originally from California. My previous career has taken me all over the US and the world and I definitely enjoy traveling. I've played hockey for over 30 years, learning as an adult, and love the game.
