HERSHEY, Pa. – The Giant Center provided fans with an exciting match that saw the Hershey Bears defeat the Rochester Americans 2-1, in an overtime thriller on Saturday night.

Both teams looked to set the mood early in the first period. The opening 20 minutes were action-packed and full of penalties; Isak Rosen scored the lone goal for the Rochester Americans. It was his 12th goal of the season. The Americans managed nine shots against goal during this frame, while the Bears managed only six.

Hershey Bears forward Bogdan Trineyev took advantage of an opening opportunity in the second period, scoring his 8th goal of the season, tying the game for his team. Rochester’s forwards had several key chances to take the lead back, including a 5 on 3 advantage. Hershey’s Shepard’s exceptional goaltending performance kept the net empty and the game tied.

The goaltenders were the stars of the third period.  Hershey’s Shepard and the American’s Levi, made some spectacular plays and shut out the offenses for the period.

Both teams were locked in battle as overtime ensued; ultimately, the Hershey Bears, Alex Limoges (15) scored the game-winning goal, delighting their home crowd with this hard-won victory.
