Pospisil Suspended Three Games, Missing Eastern Road Trip with Flames

Calgary Flames center Martin Pospisil has received a three-game suspension for his illegal hit from behind on Seattle Kraken’s Vince Dunn. The incident occurred on Monday’s game at the 13:39 point of the third period, at which point the Flames were trailing the Kraken. Pospisil, who has 15 points on the season, and averages around 12:06 of ice time a night, will miss the Eastern conference road trip that will take Calgary to Tampa Bay on Thursday, Sunrise to play the Panthers on Saturday, and Raleigh to take Carolina on on Sunday. His next available game will be on Tuesday back in Calgary when the Flames host the Colorado Avalanche.

Along with the suspension, Pospisil will also forfeit $12,109.38 of his salary based on his annual salary. This is due to the Collective Bargaining agreement, and the money forfeit will go towards the Players Emergency Association. This is not Pospisil’s first suspension, as he received on for an illegal check against Cole Perfetti in a pre-season tilt against Winnipeg, and once more in February in a game against Boston, where once again he made an illegal check, this time on Brad Marchand.

The Flames are back in action Thursday against Tampa, looking to bounce back from their 4-2 loss against Seattle.
