Boston Fleet Notes:

The Fleet were 8-4-3-9 and third in the standings last season. They secured a playoff spot in a very back and forth game against Montreal. They then completed a 3 game sweep against Montreal in the first round of the playoffs. They brought the final series to a game 5, ultimately falling short to Minnesota on home ice. The Fleet are hungry for redemption and look to bring the Walter Cup back to Boston this year.

Toronto Sceptres Notes:

The Toronto Sceptres host the first game of the PWHL 2024-25 season. The Sceptres were the team to watch last year. After a rough start to the season, they went on to complete an 11-game win streak. They were the favorite to win the cup. Campbell was strong between the pipes. Spooner was hot all season doing Spooner things. They had a strong lead over Minnesota. They had them on the brink of elimination. However, this Minnesota team had other plans. They completed a reverse sweep to advance and ultimately hoist the Walter Cup. The Sceptres are looking to stay strong contenders this season and get out of the first round.

Boston Fleet Lineup:

Bilka-Muller-Knight
Gabel-Tapani-Schafzahl
Rattray-Brandt-Shirley
Girard-Adzija-Maloney

Keller-Digirolamo

Toronto Sceptres Lineup:

Connors-Kluge-Rankila

Munroe-Flanagan

Players To Watch:

Boston–

Boston’s player to watch this game will be the captain, Hilary Knight. Knight had a rough and slow start to her PWHL career and did not contribute much on the scoreboard. However, we all saw the Hilary Knight we all know and love during the Rivalry Series and preseason. In just one game this preseason Knight potted 2 goals. Last season she was dealing with injuries. If Hilary Knight is awake this season, it is bad news for the other teams.

Toronto–

Toronto’s player to watch is Daryl Watts. While Watt’s did not shine in the preseason, her expectations are high this season. Watts was acquired from Ottawa during the offseason. In the first season Watts ended the season with 10 goals and 7 assists. With Spooner out with an injury, Daryl Watts will be crucial for success on the offensive side.

Injuries:

Boston
D Hadley Hartmetz – LTIR (lower body)

Toronto
D Megan Carter- LTIR (lower body)

F Natalie Spooner- LTIR (lower body)
