Trade Rumors: Philadelphia Flyers Will Be Busy Leading Up to the NHL Draft

New GM Daniel Briere wasted no time starting to remake the team with his vision with the Provorov trade, and by all accounts, he is nowhere near done. The Flyers appear to be heading into a long overdue rebuild. Let’s look at some pieces they may have available as they look to stockpile future pieces.

Travis Konecny

Konecny Stats

No piece the Flyers have to move may be bigger than the 26-year-old 30 goal scorer. For that reason alone, they will be looking at moving him, giving their rebuild a big early boost. Any team looking to climb out of a rebuild should be in on him. Look for teams like the Red Wings, and if they lose DeBrincat, the Senators to be involved, along with many others. He has two years left at a 5.5 million cap hit.

Travis Sanheim

Sanheim Stats

The 27-year-old defenseman is another piece that should fetch a pricey sum from a team at the draft/this offseason. The solid, steady rearguard will fit in perfectly on any contender’s second pair. Look at a team like Buffalo to be heavily in on him if they miss on some of the bigger-name defenders available. He has 8 more years at 6.25 left on his contract.

Carter Hart

The 24-year-old goalie has already had his name out there quite a bit this offseason. The young stud goalie is one of several that could be on the move this offseason. Hart should get a decent return if he’s moved. With the musical chairs that seem to be lining up this offseason, there will be multiple teams in on Hart, including New Jersey, if they miss on Hellebuyck. He has one year left on a 3.979 cap hit.

Scott Laughton

Laughton Stats

The 29-year-old gritty forward who can play either center or wing is yet another piece that could be moved. Another guy who would be a perfect complement to any contender’s third line and has a reasonable enough cap hit to be affordable. Laughton is a player that you really can’t say a team is a leading candidate for him because he fits so many scenarios and teams. He has 3 years left with a 3 million cap hit
