The Adirondack Thunder wrapped up a tough road trip on Friday Night in Maine as they took on the Maine Mariners. Over the last few games, the Thunder have had slow starts, and tonight would be no exception as Owen Pederson would take advantage of a turnover by Tyler Brennan to put the Mariners on the board just over five minutes into the opening period. Coming into tonight’s game, Maine’s PP at home was abysmal, converting at only 14.9%, but it would be Curtis Hall who would find the back of the net nine seconds into the Mariner’s first PP, and then Chase Zieky scored on a deflection just 2:03 after the Hall goal and for the second time this season Tyler Brennan would be pulled after giving three goals on 11 shots as Vinnie Purpura would be forced into the game for the second straight night.

In the second, things didn’t get much better for Adirondack as Curtis Hall took advantage of a Thunder turnover and picked up his second of the game just 1:31 into the second period. Maine wasn’t done yet as Brooklyn Kalmikov finished off a tic-tac-toe sequence by the Mariners to make it a 5-0, which would be the score after 40 minutes of play. Austin Albrecht got the touchdown goal for Maine on the PP at the 14:00 mark, and then with 10.5 seconds remaining, Curtis Hall would get a break-away to finish off his hat-trick and the extra points for the Mariners as the Thunder, for the second time this season have gotten shutout both of those times have been in Portland. The seven goals allowed are the most the Thunder have given up all season. Brad Arvanitis stopped all 33 shots he saw for his first pro shutout of the season. Adirondack, who finished their five-game road trip with a record of 1-3-1, will look to strike back as they return home against the Maine Mariners on Saturday Night
