Glens Falls, NY- The Adirondack Thunder point streak is now at 15 games, but it took 60+ minutes to do so. Adirondack would be the better team out of the gate, but the Royals would be rewarded with a PP at the 14:11 mark of the period, and despite not scoring on the PP, they got some momentum from it, but after 20 minutes of play neither team would find the back of the net as Adirondack led in the shot column 12-10. Reading would finally get on the board at the 5:50 mark of the second as Ryan Chyzowski would fire a wrist-shot past Jeremy Brodeur for his team-leading 16th goal of the season. The Thunder would get a golden chance to tie the game as newcomer Dominiks Marcinkevics would get a break-away during a four-on-four but would hit the cross-bar however, shortly after that, Shane Harper would clean up a rebound and put it home as the ECHL’s Player of the Month for January now has points in 11 of his last 12 games, “That’s a nice feather in the cap for sure obviously it helps when we were on a 12-game winning streak in that stretch, I was excited to hear I received that, it’s always cool when the boys are pretty excited and it’s nice to see the guys excited for me” said Harper on his Player of the Month honors.

Heading into the third, the two teams would be knotted up at one, but Brodeur would misplay the puck early in the third, and Matt Brown would hit a wide-open net to give the Royals a 2-1 lead just 31 seconds in. Adirondack would not go quietly as Ryan Wheeler skated in and fired one past former Thunder Brody Claeys. Less than five minutes later, Chyzowski would find the back of the net for his second of the game as Reading looked like they were about to snap Adirondack’s 15-game point streak, but with 4.2 seconds left, Tristan Ashbrook would tie the game, “Huge, we brought it in this morning tight after we had a little bit longer of a pre-game skate just to help everyone get up to speed on how we want to play, new guys specifically, we just had a chat about how that group is gonna come in here and work, and it’s our last opportunity to be in front our incredible fans until the 16th of February, right, we hadn’t won in two games, we got points, but we hadn’t won so let’s put our best foot forward and try and get the two points but more than anything compete, and we got the result we were looking for” said Head Coach Pete MacArthur.

Marcinkevics would find himself on the stat sheet as he fed Travis Broughman for the game-winner in OT, “Ya, lucky to get an assist, obviously a snipe by Broughman, and we won,” said Marcinkevics after the game. Colin Felix once again had a solid night against his old team as he had two assists on the night, and Jeremy Brodeur picked up 23 saves in the victory, “Obviously, it’s nice to put up some points against them, see some familiar faces, and maybe a little extra motivation but we’ll take a win any way we can take it” said Felix. Brody Claeys made 41 saves for the Reading Royals in the loss.
