Game Preview: Boston Bruins vs Los Angeles Kings in Quebec City with Projected Lines

Bruins Benders Podcast Bruins Preseason Game Day Preview

Preseason Game 6
Los Angeles Kings vs Boston Bruins
Videotron Centre, Quebec City
Date: Thursday, October 3
Time: 7:00 pm EST

TV: None
Stream: nhl.com/bruins
Radio: 98.5 The Sports Hub

Los Angeles Kings Notes:
The Kings have high hopes for their top-six forward group led by Anze Kopitar who enters his 19th season. Los Angeles will be without defenseman Drew Doughty, who will miss significant time with a fractured ankle.

Boston Bruins Notes:
The Bruins have a heavier, stout defensive core with the addition of 6-foot-6, 250-pound Nikita Zadorov on the back end. With question marks in goal, the six defensemen could be among the best in the National Hockey League. Brad Marchand left Tuesday’s win over Philadelphia with an illness and should be fine for the start of the season.

Los Angeles Kings Lineup:
Fiala – Byfield – Foegele
Jeannot – Danault – Thomas
Turcotte-Studnicka – Fagemo
Lee-Helenius–Parker-Jones

Anderson – Spence
Gavrikov-Burroughs
Englund-Moverare

Rittich
Kuemper

Boston Bruins Lineup:
Zacha-Lindholm-Pastrnak
Tufte-Coyle-Lysell
Frederic-Johnson-Brazeau
Jones-Brown-Viel

Lindholm-McAvoy
Zadorov-Carlo
Lohrei-Wotherspoon

Korpisalo
Bussi

Los Angeles Kings Players to Watch:
Quinton Byfield, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft, had a breakout season with 20 goals and 55 points before signing a five-year, $31.25 million extension in the offseason. Byfield will move from left wing to center on a line that includes Kevin Fiala. Forwards Alex Turcotte, the fifth overall pick in the 2019 draft, and Akil Thomas should compete for playing time on the bottom two lines after making impacts late last season.

Boston Bruins Players to Watch:
The Bruins are still without Jeremy Swayman in net and will begin the season with Joonas Korpisalo as their number-one goaltender. Morgan Geekie has assumed the second-line right-wing role with Charlie Coyle and Marchand. Matt Poitras seems to have an inside track on making the team out of camp as the third-line center.

Next Game:
Los Angeles Kings: vs Florida Panthers, October 5 at Quebec City at 7 pm
Boston Bruins: at Washington Capitals, October 5 at 5 pm.

Opinion: Oilers’ Stuart Skinner Showing Some Steadiness Between the Pipes

When it comes to Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner, one never knows what they are going to get. On one hand, one might see a version of Skinner, 26, who stands tall, comes up with big saves, does not get out of position, and does not allow soft goals. When this version of Skinner is […]
