On Monday, November 4th, the Edmonton Oilers announced they had completed a trade with the Philadelphia Flyers. The Oilers received defenseman Ronnie Attard in exchange for Ben Gleason.
Gleason, who is 26, dressed in seven games this season for the Bakersfield Condors, the AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers. The Michigan native tallied four points, with one goal and three assists during the seven-game span. He was the second-most amount defenseman and fifth-most on the team. Gleason signed with the Dallas Stars in 2018 and played in four NHL games in November of that year. He played five seasons with the Texas Stars before signing as a free agent with Edmonton in July of 2023. In seven seasons with Texas and Bakersfield, he dressed in 359 AHL games and notched 40 goals with 137 assists. He has eight power-play goals, five game-winning goals, and 229 PIMS.
Ronnie Attard, another Michigan native, was drafted by the Flyers in the 2019 NHL Draft in the third round, 72nd overall. In three seasons with the Flyers, he played in 29 NHL games and collected two goals with four assists. In the AHL, Attard played in 123 games and tallied 22 goals with 37 assists in two seasons with Lehigh Valley.
