PHOTOS: San Diego Gulls vs. Calgary Wranglers – 01/26/2025

CALGARY, AB. – The Calgary Wranglers took on the San Diego Gulls again on Sunday afternoon for their second game of the weekend. The Wranglers fought back from a late deficit in the third but fell 5-4 in overtime Gulls.  This was the Wrangler’s first overtime loss of the year.

Adam Klapka, Sam Morton, Martin Frk, and Lucas Ciona all scored for the Wranglers, as they struck early, with Klapka opening the scoring off a deflected shot from Tyson Barrie, beating Gulls netminder, ex-Wrangler, Oscar DanskJan Myšák responded before the end of the first-period buzzer, to make it 1-1 going into the first intermission.

Calgary retook the lead in the second period when Sam Morton fired a sharp shot from the slot to go ahead 2-1. The Gulls hit back shortly after Rodwin Dionicio scored, then Nico Myatovic put San Diego ahead 3-2, firing one past Devin Cooley. Frk tied things up at 3-3 with a blast from the slot, set up by William Stromgren

The Gulls Tristan Luneau responded, putting the Gulls back in front, 4-3. With time running out, Ciona scored a wrap-around goal, assisted by Jeremie Poirier, to force the game to overtime.

In the OT, Tristan Luneau added his second goal of the night, to give San Diego the win. Despite the loss, the Wranglers took three points from the Gulls in the weekend two-game series.
