The Blackhawks are playing the second game of a back-back after beating Pittsburgh on opening night 4-2 Tuesday in Pittsburgh. Corey Perry scored the game-winning goal as Chicago came back from a 2-0 deficit.
Boston Bruins Notes:
This is the opener at TD Garden for the defending President Trophy-winning Bruins, who begin their centennial season. The Bruins will be playing their first game after the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci.
Players To Watch:
Chicago – Bedard is the 2023 first-overall draft pick and collected his first NHL point in the first game. Bedard was 0 for 8 on the faceoff dot, however. Former Bruins Taylor Hall and Ryan Donato are his linemates. Nick Foligno is also in the lineup for Chicago. Chicago totaled 59 points last season.
Boston – Matthew Poitras, the Bruins 2022 2nd-round draft pick, is making his NHL debut after leading the Bruins with five points in the preseason. The 19-year-old will center the third line with Trent Frederic and Morgan Geekie. Johnny Beecher is also making his debut. The 2019 first-round pick is the fourth-line center with Milan Lucic and Jakub Lauko on his wings. The Bruins led the NHL with 135 points last season.
