Who Was Selected on Day One of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft

The 2023 NHL Entry Draft has all of the hype surrounding it, here at Inside The Rink, a group of multiple writers wrote prospect profiles throughout a set period of time. Day one of the draft is upon us and the first 32 selections have arrived.

1st overall – Chicago Blackhawks

With the first overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Chicago Blackhawks select Connor Bedard.

2nd overall – Anaheim Ducks

With the second overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Anaheim Ducks select Leo Carlsson.

3rd overall – Columbus Blue Jackets

With the third overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets select Adam Fantilli.

4th overall – San Jose Sharks

With the fourth overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the San Jose Sharks select Will Smith.

5th overall – Montreal Canadiens

With the fifth overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens select David Reinbacher.

6th overall – Arizona Coyotes

With the sixth overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Arizona Coyotes select Dmitri Simashev.

7th overall – Philadelphia Flyers

With the seventh overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers select Matvei Michkov.

8th overall – Washington Capitals

With the eighth overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Washington Capitals select Ryan Leonard.

9th overall – Detroit Red Wings

With the ninth overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Detroit Red Wings select Nate Danielson.

10th overall – St. Louis Blues

With the tenth overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the St. Louis Blues select Dalibor Dvorsky.

11th overall – Vancouver Canucks

With the 11th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Vancouver Canucks select Tom Willander.

12th overall – Arizona Coyotes

With the 12th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Arizona Coyotes select Daniil But.

13th overall – Buffalo Sabres

With the 13th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Buffalo Sabres select Zach Benson.

14th overall – Pittsburgh Penguins

With the 14th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Pittsburgh Penguins select Brayden Yager.

15th overall – Nashville Predators

With the 15th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Nashville Predators select Matthew Wood.

16th overall – Calgary Flames

With the 16th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, the Calgary Flames select Samuel Honzek.

17th overall – Detroit Red Wings

18th overall – Winnipeg Jets
